I Love You Berlin

Photographer Dirk Wilke reports that he has seen approximately 120 ILYs in Berlin, mostly in the multi-cultural, urban districts of Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain and Prenzlauer Berg. He can't doesn't know when or how the ILY graf appeared, or who painted them, but says,

"It is sooo interesting for me to walk through the streets with open eyes for things like this. If there is someone who would pay me for these activities, it could be my future job: to search for interesting graffiti in towns / villages...."

Dirk and I first corresponded while New York ILY graf artist Nathan Reimer happened to be in Berlin. Nathan emailed that Berlin's street art was outrageously beautiful, that he loved the city, and that he had seen the I Love You pieces. Similarly, Winnipeg ILY graff artist Ryan Klatt visited Montreal and wrote that he spotted the JE T'AIME stencils there by Gabriel Viau-Hernandez.

There's something in the air, world!

The large pieces which have appeared in Berlin seem to have been created by crews. As you can see, this page is a work in progress. If you has any info about these German writers, please contact me. At endstation, there's another photo of a German I Love You on a train.
